"2nd Annual Coalition Cookout - Huge Success"

Atlanta, GA. -- September 16, 2007 -- The Second-Annual Atlanta Steppers Coalition Cookout drew more than 250 people to the Pavillion at Perkerson Park in Atlanta, GA. Music, Bid Whisk, Chess, Dancing, Double-Dutch, Jump Rope, Hulo Hoop, Frisby and plenty of food were just some of the favorable mentions of the day. Add to that a small TV for those football and Tiger Woods fanatics, a weather perfect day, and people adorned in Coalition T-Shirts, the day was absolutely beautiful.

"We are extremely pleased with the event," said a Coalition member. "Everyone came together to present the community with a free event for the entire family. Without the efforts of those on the various committees, it would have been hard to pull everything together. It just goes to show when we all come together, there is nothing we cannot achieve. This is the very purpose of the Coalition … to unite in efforts that benefit the community".

To top off the day, the Coalition held a talent contest where the participants showed off their other talents besides steppin. The contest entitled "So You Think You Have Talent Besides Steppin" featured a dramatic poetry reading (What if I am a Black Woman) by Ms. Kharen Fulter, song (A Capella - Because of Who You Are) by Ms. Shafique Jones 15 Years Old, song (A Capella - I Believe I Can Fly) by Ms. Isis Harris 4 Years Old, song (Luther Vandross Mix) by Mr. Ronnie Robinson. By way of audience vote, Ms. Isis Harris (Pictures left)  stole the show and was crowned the winner. Congratulations to all of the contestants.
